Ontario’s police watchdog says it is looking into an incident that happened at Hamilton’s TD Coliseum at a Cardi B concert.
A statement from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) reads that Hamilton police assisted on-site security with the removal of a woman from the venue.
The SIU said it will investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the woman after saying physical control was used to remove her from the area.
The agency told CHCH News that it is investigating an allegation of sexual assault.
“As a policy, we don’t comment on specific incidents. Our top priority is the safety and security of our guests, staff and performers. We appreciate the support of Hamilton Police in assisting our team and ensuring situations are handled safely and appropriately,” a TD Coliseum Spokesperson says in a statement for CHCH News.
The unit is asking anyone who may have information, photos or video of the incident to contact them at 1-800-787-8529.
The SIU has not said why it has invoked its mandate, as the agency investigates the conduct of police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
