SIU charges Hamilton officer with aggravated assault in February arrest

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which acts as a watchdog for the police, has charged a Hamilton police officer with aggravated assault.

The police watchdog says the investigation into Const. Matthew Eleftheriou began after a February arrest left a 59-year-old woman with serious injuries.

The SIU says Const. Eleftheriou is expected to appear in court on Oct. 20 in Hamilton.
