Sirens For Life raises awareness of need for blood donors

In an attempt to heighten awareness about the need for blood, Canadian Blood Services has partnered with emergency service workers in Hamilton for the Sirens For Life summer campaign.

Emergency service workers see the need first hand. They are hoping the Sirens For Life campaign will educate Canadians about the scope of the effort involved and the resources needed to save the life of an accident victim.

Veronica Magee of Canadian Blood Services explains it takes about 50 donors to help save the life of one car accident victim. “There are a number of people who are involved in that, paramedics firefighters, 911 operators, 50 donors who are needed to save a life so there are a number of people in the chain link needed to help that one individual.”

Donating blood only takes about an hour. If you are able to donate you can book an appointment by logging on to the Canadian Blood Services website.
