Short Hills deer hunt this weekend

Niagara Regional Police will be controlling entry into Short Hills provincial park in Thorold this weekend.
That’s because aboriginal hunters will start an annual deer hunt. The Ministry of Natural Resources allows hunters from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy to exercise their treaty rights with a traditional bow-only deer hunt in the park over the next three weekends.
The 660 hectare park is bounded by Pelham, Thorold and St Catharines. The hunt has been criticized over safety and animal rights concerns.
