38 year old Lee Sharples has been sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for 10 years. Sharples pled guilty today to killing his common law wife Shana Carter, by smashing her head with a blunt object during a fight in their home.

December 2010, Lee Sharples and Shana Carter had a fight inside the foyer of their townhouse in Grimsby. Shana wanted to leave with their young son Levaughn. Sharples grabbed a blunt instrument and smashed Shana 4 times in the head, killing her. Sharples took her lifeless body to a remote wooded area near Parry Sound. Her remains were found by hunters in September 2012. 6 days later he was charged with murder.

Today in St. Catharines court, he pled guilty to second degree murder. Justice Joseph Henderson sentenced Sharples to life with no chance of parole for 10 years.

For 2 years, Sharples lied to Shana’s mother, sister and brother about what happened inside that house. He told police Shana went out for a cigarette that night and never came back.
