Search at Norfolk County home uncovers illegal drugs, weapons

Police have charged two people after drugs, cash and weapons were seized from a home in Norfolk County on Thursday.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant around 3:20 p.m. at an address on Adams St. in Norfolk County.

Officers arrested two people and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and suspected fentanyl along with Canadian cash, ammunition, prohibited weapons, replica firearms and drug paraphernalia.

Derek Balint, 35, of Norfolk County is facing numerous charges, including the possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and failure to comply with a release order.

Also facing charges is 35-year-old Kathleen Caryn of Norfolk County. Her offences include the possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused are scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe at a later date.
