Ryan Russell’s Father Speaks

As the man charged in his murder appeared in court, Sergeant Ryan Russell’s father was thanking the public for their support.

Glenn Russell was at Toronto Police headquarters, flanked by Russell’s widow and sister. “Ryan and I spoke often of how proud he was to serve with you all and how he enjoyed working with such a fine group of people. ”

“To the Toronto Police Service executive and association, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. You stood with us shoulder to shoulder, every step of the way. We were able to lean upon you when we faltered.”

Meanwhile Richard Kachkar, the man accused of killing Sgt Russell will remain behind bars until next week. Lisa Hepfner was at his court appearance:
