A stretch of James Street North will be closed tonight to allow for a safe Hamilton Art Crawl experience as the iconic annual event returns.

Temporary road closures will be in place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on James Street North from York Boulevard to Murray Street East.

City staff will begin bagging parking meters at 1 p.m. to prepare for the closure.

People are encouraged to walk, bike or scoot on over to James Street North and check out what art vendors have to offer.

Studios, galleries, shops and restaurants will keep their doors open late for the return of the event. One space to find artists is Maker’s Market located outside of the historic Christ Church Cathedral.

Art Crawl happens on the second Friday of every month and this year the road closure schedule has been expanded into October.

Jewelry artist Serafina Thoma has been selling her wares at the ‘Crawl’ for over 10 years and says the event attracts a lot of shoppers in May and June with people looking for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts.

There are five Art Crawls scheduled for 2025.
