Road closure on Hamilton Mountain after hydro pole struck by car

An alleged impaired driver downed a hydro pole in an early morning crash on the Hamilton Mountain causing a road closure Tuesday.

Hamilton police and fire crews were called to West 5th St. and Mohawk Rd. around 2:30 a.m. after a single-vehicle crashed into the pole. Road closures were in effect at Mohawk to Richwill roads.

Upon arrival, officers say they found an unconscious man in his 30s. He was taken to hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

No one else was injured in the crash but police continue to investigate.

Roads are expected to remain closed until around noon today.
