Residents struggle with heat issues in Hamilton apartment

A 20-story downtown Hamilton apartment building was without heat for two weeks. Some residents say the heat is sometimes back on, but it’s still inconsistent or warm enough. Rita Morrison says she’s had to buy portable heaters to keep her apartment warm, but it’s costing her. However, it’s not just the low heat she’s dealing with. Rita lives at 123 Charlton Avenue East in Hamilton.
CHCH first reported on this building on January 13th,2025 when tenants said they were without heat for nearly two weeks. Click here to read more https://www.chch.com/chch-news/hamilton-residents-left-freezing-for-13-days-after-boiler-breaks-down/
Since CHCH News covered the story, tenants say the management company, Brampton-based Drake Property Management, has increased the heat slightly, but they say it’s still not enough. A letter was posted in the hallway asking tenants to call if they have a heat issue. CHCH News called that number, but it was out of service.
CHCH News also reached out to Drake Property Management today, and they said they would get back to us, but have yet to hear back from them.
