Rescue attempt leads to drowning in Niagara River
The body of a 16 year-old boy was pulled from the Niagara River this afternoon.
He was fishing with a group of people off Squaw Island – near Buffalo – when he went into the water to rescue a 14 year old girl who slipped off a rock and fell in. The girl and her uncle made it safely to shore.
The boy was under water for 45 minutes before the dive team recovered his body.
