Reporter drops suit against Ford

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford apologized again Wednesday night by clearly retracting the statements he made about Toronto Star reporter Daniel Dale. By doing so, he’s also avoided another lawsuit. Ford’s two-page written apology says the statements he made about dale during an interview with Conrad Black were inaccurate.

In it, Ford says: “There was absolutely no basis for the statement I made about Mr. Dale taking pictures of my children or for any insinuations I made. I should not have said what I did and I wholly retract my statements and apologize to Mr. Dale without reservation for what I said.”

Just minutes after the statement was released, Dale tweeted: “I sincerely appreciate Mayor Ford’s complete retraction and unqualified apology, and I’m very glad the truth is no longer in dispute. I won’t be taking legal action against the Mayor, and I’m looking forward to getting back to work.”

Dale says he will no longer be taking legal action against the company that aired the interview, Zoomer Media. They also issued an apology tonight.
