Repaving on the Red Hill Valley Parkway begins on May 21st

All Northbound lanes will be closed from May 21st until mid June so the city of Hamilton can repave the roads after a buried report revealed the parkway’s friction was not up to code. The city has hired a contractor and two different asphalt experts to perform the 8.5 million dollar repairs to the crash prone roads.
They will begin with the northbound roads and then move to the southbound. The road closures will push approximately 35 thousand cars and trucks daily off the parkway and onto local streets. The city will also do updated friction testing ahead of the repaving. HSR routes will also be affected by the closures.
From the start of service until 9:30 pm route 11 Parkdale will not be servicing Upper Stoney Creek. Instead, a shuttle bus will take users to the mount albion loop via Centennial and Upper Centennial where they can then transfer to more route 11 services.
From 9:30 pm until the end of service, the shuttle bus will not operate and HSR buses will take a detour.
