Some good news tonight, for a Niagara Falls man who received a $922 bill from the Ministry of Transportation after someone called 911 when they saw him pull his disabled car over on the shoulder of the QEW.
The Town of Lincoln responded with two fire trucks. But the only thing wrong with Mark Stirtzinger’s car that day was a broken hood latch. Each truck that responds on the highway bills the MTO $410 an hour. Stirtzinger didn’t make the 911 call. but he was still on the hook for the $922 response. He fought a long battle. And days ago, the MTO sent him a revised bill for $461. Stirtzinger says his insurance company will pay.
