Redpath closure

The Redpath sugar plant in Niagara Falls is closing its doors leaving 90 people out of a job.

Production will be moved to a more modern plant in Belleville after the Niagara Falls plant closes in May. Employees were told Monday there are a limited number of jobs available to them in Belleville “if” they’re willing to relocate. Most of the workers at the plant are involved in packaging operations.

The plant makes a variety of products, such as hot chocolate, iced tea, as well as milk powders used by other food companies.
