RECAP: Canadian rookie and Dundas native in Sea Island PGA tournament

MacKenzie Hughes from Dundas, Ont., was attempting to maintain his lead at the RSM Classic and follow Thursdays, nine-under par 61 with another solid round in Sea Island, Georgia and 223 yards out, he was looking good at 12 under par.
One hole later, Hughes had a scoring opportunity with a 12 footer for birdie. He buried it for the outright lead, moving to 13 under par.
The birdie-fest continued a hole later as he attacked the 144 yard, par three fifth and his nine iron seemed to be effective. Hughes converted the short putt and dropped to 14 under par.
After two rounds, Hughes entered moving day with a two shot lead after shooting a bogey free five under 67 seeking his first PGA victory, just his ninth tournament.
Hughes was in a groove, knocking down 14 birdies through 36 holes without a bogey.
Despite the two-stroke lead, the field was tight as 25 players were separated by just five shots.
