Raitt on planned Idle No More protests
The Idle No More movement is planning another day of action tomorrow.
It will involve rail blockades, marches and highway shutdowns.
In Ontario, there are reportedly plans to block the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor and Detroit for about 30 minutes. They’re calling the event a unity walk, and organizers say they’ll try to keep traffic disruptions to a minimum.
Organizers are also planning a 16 kilometre walk from St Catharines to Niagara Falls.
Labour minister Lisa Raitt was asked about the planned protest after a government-related announcement this morning in Milton.
“If anything unfolds tomorrow, it will be dealt with in the appropriate way with the appropriate people taking part in it. Protests within the rule of law are welcome, and they are part of being Canadian.”
Raitt was at Parker Hannifin Canada for the awarding of a $3 million sub-contract in support of the upgrading of the Canadian Armed Forces’ fleet of light armoured vehicles.
