The Quiet Ones

The Quiet Ones is a supernatural horror film directed by John Pogue. The film stars Jared Harris as Professor Copeland, a man trying to unravel the mysteries of the paranormal. Aided by a team of his research students, Copeland devises an experiment to conduct on Jane Harper, a foster child who has shown signs of possessing otherworldly powers. What they uncover is far more than they had hoped for. The film co-stars Sam Claflin and Olivia Cooke.

The Quiet Ones is based on the real life incident known as The Phillip Experiment that took place in Toronto in the mid-1970s. The researchers there drew up a spirit named Phillip on paper and then focused their collective concentration and emotions on the image to try and give Phillip life. Nothing happened at first, but eventually they began to hear unexplained noises that convinced them the experiment was successful.

The Quiet Ones is rated 14A.
