Quebec City rocked by deadly sword attack on Halloween night

Police in Quebec City are investigating what led up to a deadly sword attack in the city on Halloween night.

Francois Duchesne, 56, and 61-year-old Suzanne Clermont were killed in Saturday night’s attack. Five others were injured.

A 24-year-old man charged with murder and attempted murder appeared briefly in court on Sunday and is due to return later this week.

Police have identified him as Carl Girouard.

Quebec City’s mayor Regis Labeaume is urging shocked residents to lean on one another
for support in their time of grief.
