Public tickets available Thursday for Hazel McCallion’s funeral

The Ontario government says tickets for the state funeral of former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion will be open to the public at noon Thursday.

The funeral will take place on Feb. 14 in Mississauga at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre located at 5500 Rose Cherry Place.

Free tickets are required to attend the funeral and a limited amount can be found at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre’s website starting at noon.

The state funeral will also be livestreamed on the Government of Ontario’s YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend in person, as well as livestreamed at the Living Arts Centre located at 4141 Living Arts Dr. in Mississauga.

McCallion died on Jan. 29 at the age of 101. She was the mayor of Mississauga for 36 years and one of the longest-serving mayors in Canada’s history.

Her body will lie in a state of repose at Mississauga City Hall for two days before her funeral.
