Province looking to declare TTC an essential service

The McGuinty government tabled legislation Tuesday to declare Toronto’s transit system an essential service.

The move comes after a request from mayor Rob Ford and council to end job action by transit workers. The city’s hoping the bill will be passed before the first labour contracts expire at the end of March.
