An initiative aimed at keeping vulnerable people safe is now available to residents in Haldimand County.

“Project Lifesaver” helps searchers quickly locate loved ones who are prone to wandering including people living with dementia-related conditions, as well as those with cognitive disabilities.

West Region OPP officers launched the initiative  this morning at Bob Baigent Memorial Park in Cayuga.

Const. Patti Cote says individuals enrolled in the program wear a small transmitter on their wrist or ankle that helps searchers track their location if lost.

If a participant goes missing, trained responders use specialized equipment to locate them quickly and safely—often reducing search times by up to 95 per cent.

Applications are available at Haldimand County website or you can apply here.
