Priest charged with theft

A Priest from Windsor has been charged with theft, for allegedly stealing more than $180,000 from his own church.

49-year old Father Robert Couture from St. Anne’s Parish in Tecumseh is facing a $5,000 theft charge. Police say they began investigating two years ago, after being approached by the Diocese of London, who realized something was wrong when Couture took a leave of absence and left the parish in 2010. A church audit later revealed there were thousands of dollars in financial irregularities.
