A groundbreaking analysis done for the federal government shows climate change comes with a pretty hefty price tag.
A new report by the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy says the toll on Canadian forests, coastal areas and human health will add up to $5 billion a year by 2020.
Researchers warn the costs will continue a steep climb depending on how fast our economy and population grow, and how much action is taken to reduce global greenhouse-gas emissions.
They also found programs that help Canadians adapt to a warmer climate would be well worth the investment.
