President Trump threatens Iranian infrastructure after attacks

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will destroy a bridge or power plant each time Iran fires on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump’s latest threat, made Wednesday, to target civilian infrastructure comes as the increasingly unpopular war continues to escalate with no clear off-ramp, raising the risk of further global economic disruption.

Both sides have dug in over the dispute surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy shipping route that remains largely closed because of Iranian attacks.
