Premier Doug Ford announces $2.5M investment into Brantford healthcare

Premier Doug Ford has announced a $2.5 million investment to Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS).

The funding will support the redevelopment of Brantford General Hospital and Willett Hospital in Paris.

The investment will go towards increasing the total number of beds from 310 to 384 across the two sites and health care services for patients in Brant, Brantford and the surrounding communities.

Earlier this month, BCHS said it had launched an enhanced advocacy campaign to the Ontario Government asking for permission to plan a redeveloped hospital site.

Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma said in a news release the Brantford General Hospital was in urgent need of modernization.

The hospital network said it has been waiting for government approval to move forward with plans to build new infrastructure since February 2020 and the community needs have outgrown the current hospital.
