There was no winner in Saturday’s historic Powerball draw down in the US. So that means this Wednesdays jackpot is now $1.3 billion US, that’s $1.85 billion Canadian. That is the largest single player jackpot the world has ever seen.
Today our Sean Leathong checked in with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation to find out if the Powerball is having an impact on local lotteries and he found out there are a lot of unclaimed winner in Ontario.
Just today there was a $7 million prize claimed by a person from Welland but it may surprise you to learn that the largest jackpot in Canadian history has not yet been claimed, the $64 million lotto 649 jackpot that was held on October 17th, 2015. There is also a $60 million Max Millions ticket from December that is unclaimed, both were sold in Mississauga.
Even beyond the $60 and $64 million that are still left on the table, there’s a total of $9.1 million in smaller prizes that are still unclaimed and many of those are in the Hamilton, Niagara area.
