Power restored for over 6,000 in Burlington amid heat warning

Power has been restored for more than 6,000 people in southern Burlington following an hours-long outage amid a heat warning, with temperatures expected to reach the upper 30s when humidity is factored in.
Burlington Hydro says the outage was caused by a downed tree on a power line after a severe thunderstorm Wednesday night.
Most customers south of the Queen Elizabeth Way, including the downtown core, did not have power from around 10 a.m. through to the early afternoon.
Hydro crews brought back power for approximately 1,500 customers around 11 a.m., with a full restoration by 3 p.m.
Outage Update: The outage in South Burlington has been caused by a downed tree on a powerline. Crews have restored approx. 1,500 customers and continue repairs for those remaining without power. Current ETR is 3pm.
