Portugal celebrates culture ahead of big game

World Cup fever continues in Hamilton and the big game tonight is Portugal versus the United States.
Hamilton’s Portuguese community celebrated their culture today with a parade down Mulbarry Street.
“This particular parade is for the saint of john they do it every year,” said John Machado.
The tradition celebrates the holy spirit and is part of a rich Portuguese culture.
“We’re not as big as some cities like Toronto, but Hamilton’s Portuguese community is big, they are strong, united and we will show that today with our game. Força Portugal!” said Margaret Machado.
Portugal faces instant elimination when it faces the United States today. If they lose, they go home.
