Porch Stories is a romantic drama written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Sarah Goodman (Hidden Driveway). The film, about love, doubt and secrets neighbours keep, stars renowned Toronto musicians Laura Barrett and Jose Miguel Contreras as the title characters. Porch Stories has already picked up some festival awards this year including an Award of Excellence for Feature Competition at the Canada International Film Festival and a Special Jury Mention to Feature Fiction at the Chicago International Movies & Music Festival.

PORCH STORIES interweaves three different stories on three porches in a changing neighbourhood one day in summer. Emma is about to get married when a man from her past shows up on her porch, throwing her planned out life into confusion. Across the street, an elderly Portuguese couple argue about divorce, and a musical brother/sister duo pursues their dreams without worrying about the consequences.

Goodman said the idea for Porch Stories came about throughout the years sitting on her porch and watching the world go by. “I wrote them down and saved theses scribbles. Some of them ended up verbatim as the passersby in Porch Stories. Other passerby’s conversations were improvised. And these little conversations became the springboard for the idea of a film that would take place on my street, and interweave different dramas happening on three different porches.”
