From the comedy minds of The Lonely Island, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is a mockumentary directed by Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. They also star in the film alongside Andy Samberg, Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows, Imogen Poots, Joan Cusack, Maya Rudolph, and a host of other cameo appearances.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is headlined by musical digital-shorts superstars ANDY SAMBERG, AKIVA SCHAFFER and JORMA TACCONE, collectively known as The Lonely Island. The comedy goes behind the scenes as singer/rapper Conner4Real (Samberg) faces a crisis of popularity after his sophomore album flops, leaving his fans, sycophants and rivals all wondering what to do when he’s no longer the dopest star of all.

“As we were writing Popstar, we took inspiration for specific jokes and scenes from a lot of the documentaries we watched. For example, Conner’s magical wardrobe change on stage plays homage to Katy Perry, and Conner drumming as a baby is a nod to Justin Bieber. Conner is a popstar with limited rapping and singing ability. He has moved on to solo glory, but at what cost? He has become very narcissistic with his solo career. He embraces the front man role, and loves being the center of attention.”
