CHCH News anchor Matt Ingram spoke with political analyst Keith Leslie following Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to remove some retaliatory tariffs on U.S. products.
Ingram asked Leslie why Carney made the decision, and how it contributed to Canada and the United States’ trade negotiations.

Leslie said he doesn’t think the U.S. will offer anything else at the bargaining table, however, and sees the situation as more of a chance for Carney to strike a deal to lessen tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum and automotive products.
Ingram then asked Leslie what he made of Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s comments regarding Carney’s decision, despite expressing a desire to match the U.S. “tariff for tariff.”
