Police uncover fentanyl in Niagara Falls motel room

One man has been arrested after an investigation into fentanyl trafficking led police to search a motel room in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Regional Police carried out a search warrant on Wednesday at a motel room located in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Montrose Rd. in Niagara Falls.

Officers discovered 18.6 grams of suspected fentanyl in the motel room with a total estimated value of $2,000.

Todd Walter Petkovich, 59, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking as well as two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Petkovich was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in a St. Catharines courthouse in March.
