Hamilton police seize five firearms in shooting call

Hamilton police continue to investigate after seizing five firearms from a property on Mud Street East.

On Aug. 23 around 6:30 p.m. officers responded to a shots-fired call.

Upon arrival, several people were fleeing on foot. Police secured the scene and arrested a number of individuals.

Officers found and seized the firearms from the property, including an semi-automatic carbine rifle and a shotgun.

Several individuals were taken into custody and later released, pending further investigation.

Police say there is currently no information to suggest the gunfire was directed at any person or residence. Members of the Shooting Response Team have taken over the investigation.
