Police say 17-year-old arrested in stabbing of teen on Hamilton Mountain

Hamilton police say an arrest has been made in the stabbing of a teen on the east Hamilton Mountain.

Police were called to Billy Sherring Park, near Upper Sherman Ave. and Rymal Rd. E, around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

A 17-year-old boy was found with serious injuries. He is in hospital in stable condition.

The park is beside St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School. The principal confirms the victim was a student there.

Tuesday was a day for students to return materials from the school. It’s not clear if the student was at the school earlier in the day to do this.

Police say a 17-year-old boy has been arrested.

He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault with a weapon.

He’s due to appear in court in August.
