Police are investigating after a “suspicious object” was found at a Niagara Falls hospital Thursday morning.
Security personnel at Greater Niagara General Hospital discovered the object in a courtyard around 9:30 a.m.
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Explosive Disposal Unit was called to investigate and the hospital was partially evacuated.
Due to an ongoing investigation at the @niagarahealth GNGH in @NiagaraFalls, a partial evacuation has been ordered. Roads in the area have been closed for investigation. Follow @SSabourinNRP for further updates. Please avoid the area.

Patients and staff in areas surrounding the object were moved to safe areas in the hospital.
The emergency department remained open but several nearby roads were shut down.
Around 10:30 a.m., the object was deemed to be safe and not a threat to public safety.
The hospital has returned to normal operation and roads in the area have reopened.

Niagara police say the investigation is ongoing as officers attempt to identify where the object came from.
They say investigators believe there was no criminal intent.
