Police raids close 3 magic mushroom shops in Hamilton

Hamilton police pulled the plug on three illegal dispensaries in the city’s east end last week.

Authorities say they carried out search warrants at Shroomyz, Fun Guys and Shroom Godz, and seized upwards of $100,000 in Psilocybin products last Thursday.

Three men were arrested following the raids. A 22-year-old from Grimsby, a 34-year-old from Hamilton and a 41-year-old from Hamilton.

They’re all facing charges of possession and having proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Police say all three men were arrested without incident and say that the bust marks a “significant step in curbing the illegal distribution of Psilocybin products.”

Last October, authorities carried out a similar wave of enforcement across the city that shuttered several similar businesses.

At that time, another Psilocybin dispensary called Shroomyz was closed.

“The Hamilton Police Service emphasizes that the possession, distribution, and sale of Psilocybin remains illegal in Canada,” reads an update from police. “These recent arrests underscore our commitment to enforcing this within our city.
