Police locate, arrest suspect for sexual assault in Niagara Falls

Police have located and arrested a suspect after responding to a belated sexual assault complaint in Niagara Falls.

Niagara police say they spoke with an adult female victim on Feb. 11, she says that three sexual assaults had recently happened by a 44-year-old man – officers say he was known to the victim.

Investigators issued and executed an arrest warrant for the suspect on Thursday shortly before 8 a.m.

Wayne Earl James Brown, 44, is facing three counts of sexual assault.

According to the police report, each of the three alleged sexual assaults happened inside Brown’s van after he offered the victim a ride.

Brown is described as a man, white, five-foot-11, 225 lbs., short brown hair and unshaven black/grey facial hair.

The suspects van is a black 2007 Honda Odyssey with visible damage to the front bumper.

Officers say Brown remains in police custody and is set to attend a virtual bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse on Friday.

Anyone with information about this investigation, or observed suspicious activity from Brown and/or his van is asked to contact police.
