Man arrested following assault in central Hamilton

Police are investigating a violent incident in central Hamilton Monday night.

Police and paramedics were called to the area of King St. E and Emerald Ave. S around 9:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

CHCH News spoke with an employee at a nearby convenience store, who said a man was seen standing outside the store holding what looked to be a knife.

Officers arrested a man who was found with a knife that is believed to have been used in the incident.

Two injured men were found a short time later. They were taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the two victims were in the area of Cannon St. E and Smith Ave. when they were approached by the suspect.

They say there was a verbal interaction before the man assaulted them and demanded cash.

A 40-year-old Hamilton man is facing several charges in connection to this incident as well as violations to previous court-ordered conditions.
