Police, govt. investigate after worker killed in Hamilton’s industrial sector

Police and the Ministry of Labour are investigating after a man was killed at a waste transfer facility in Hamilton’s industrial sector on Monday.

Authorities responded to the facility on Strathearne Avenue at around 4:20 p.m. after receiving reports that a worker had been struck by heavy equipment.

Officers say a 48-year-old man was brought to the hospital with critical injuries, where he later died.

“The incident involved a commercial vehicle and heavy equipment operating on the side,” investigators say.

The Ministry of Labour, the Office of the Chief Coroner and Hamilton police are working together on this ongoing investigation.
