Police charge 24-year-old in connection with Hamilton’s 16th car collision death

Charges have been laid after a 70-year-old Hamilton man died in a collision last month, marking the city’s 16th fatality this year.
The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Sept. 13 at the intersection of Parkdale Ave. North and Burland Cres.
A 2003 Ford pick-up truck was traveling northbound on Parkdale Ave. when it tried to make a left turn at the intersection and collided with a man riding southbound on a Yahama Majesty scooter.
The 70-year-old man riding the scooter suffered significant injuries and died in hospital as a result of the collision.

Police have charged a 24-year-old Hamilton man with careless driving causing death, operation of an unsafe vehicle, and driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit.
The name of the 24-year-old has not been released. He is scheduled to appear in court early December.

This is Hamilton’s 16th motor vehicle fatality of the year, and the fourth motor vehicle driver.
