Police arrest 27-year-old man in Stoney Creek shooting

Police have arrested a Hamilton man in connection with a shooting in Stoney Creek.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in front of a commercial property in the area of Oriole Ave. and South Service Rd. shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday.

A number of people were inside the business at the time of the incident, however, there were no injuries reported to police.

Officers secured the area and discovered evidence that confirmed a shooting had taken place.

Investigators identified a suspect and arrested a 27-year-old man several hours later.

He was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court on Friday for several firearms-related charges.

Roads in the immediate area were shut down for the investigation but have since reopened.
