Pet cat, dogs die in Brantford basement fire

A pet cat and two dogs are dead following a basement fire in a home in Brantford on Halloween night.

Emergency crews responded to the fire on Drummond Street at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Brantford Fire Department told CHCH News that residents were home at the time of the fire but evacuated before crews arrived.

Firefighters say neither the occupants of the home or firefighters were injured during the fire.

Officials say the fire is being investigated but is not considered suspicious.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.
