October 18th marks Persons Day in Canada, commemorating a historic court ruling made 95 years ago that finally deemed most women in this country to be people in the eyes of the law.

This ruling allowed women to be appointed to the Senate and marked a critical advancement in gender equality in Canada.

However, the ruling did not include all women, leaving Indigenous women and racialized women to continue fighting for decades to earn the right to vote.
