The City of Hamilton is giving residents a heads-up about an upcoming temporary trail closure for a few weeks in January.

The city says parts of the Keddy Access Trail will be closed from Jan. 5 to Jan. 23 due to construction in an attempt to revitalize the trail.

The section of trail between Arkledun Avenue and West 5th Street will be closed from Jan. 5 to Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From Jan. 8 to Jan. 23, the part of the trail between St. Joseph’s Drive and Keddy Trail, as well as between Hunter Street East and Arkledun Avenue will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

These closures will only be in place on weekdays.

The city is encouraging cyclists who typically use the trail to use the Mountain Climber Program, which offers free rides to those with bikes looking to get to the top of the mountain.
