The city of Hamilton is looking at widening the congested Red Hill Valley Parkway and Lincoln Alexander Parkway.
The problem is, the report isn’t due for another year, and that means any widening of the highways is likely four or five years away. City Manager Chris Murray says the widening of the highways is part of the ongoing review of the city’s transportation master plan.
When the Red Hill Valley Parkway opened in 2007, an estimated 45,000 vehicles a day were expected to use it. It now handles about 80,000.
The Lincoln Alexander Parkway sees about 90,000 vehicles a day.
