Pan Am spending controversy fuels opposition attacks

Just how much will Ontario taxpayers be paying to fully fund the 2015 Pan Am Games? That depends whom you ask.

PC MPP Rod Jackson has asked the province how many budgets there were for the games and about any additional costs.

The minister of tourism and sport, Michael Chan, said the Liberals have been open and honest about money allocated for the event and that opposition is simply trying to muddy the facts.

The government is under fire because there are two budgets for the games. Neither includes over $700 million to pay for the athletes village.
