Pan Am bonuses questioned

53 Pan Am executives are in for big bonuses for what their boss says was a job well done.
The minister responsible for the games says the executives delivered infrastructure projects on time and on budget — despite a year-long delay with Tim Hortons Field.
The city was supposed to take possession of the stadium in June 2014, but didn’t get the keys until almost a year later. But that wasn’t on the mind of tourism & sport minister Michael Coteau when he explained why the bonuses were being handed out.
“It is structured , for example when it comes to infrastructure if they failed on delivering on infrastructure ON TIME and on budget they wouldn’t be eligible for those types of incentives that were built into those contracts.”
The executives will share $5.7 million dollars in bonus money. Some will be rewarded for not quitting before the games ended; others for bringing the games in on budget and on time. The CEO of the games, Saad Rafi, on the job for a year and a half will draw a bonus equal to his $428,000 salary.
