Owners of dog found guilty of animal cruelty

A little more than a year ago we told you about an emaciated dog found in St. Catharines.

She was given the nick-name “Minnie” by staff at the Lincoln County Humane Society because the French Mastiff cross-breed was so thin. Minnie was nursed back to health as investigators looked for her owners. They were eventually charged and on Tuesday Tyr Laffrenier and Joshua Anthony Legacy were both found guilty of animal cruelty.

They both received a $1000 fine, one year probation and have been ordered to pay the Lincoln County Humane Society $223 each, in restitution. The court also imposed a five year ban on owning animals, aside from the 2 cats and 2 dogs they already own.
