Over $250K in damages after overnight fire at Hamilton Mountain home

One person was taken to hospital following an overnight fire at a home on the Hamilton Mountain that caused over $250,000 in damages.

Police responded to the house on West 1st St. and Fennell Ave. West shortly before 2 a.m. for reports of a structure fire.

While no one was seriously injured, officers say one person was taken to hospital for minor smoke inhalation and has since been released.

Investigators say the fire is not being considered as suspicious.

Police say the Ontario Fire Marshal planned to attend the scene this morning.

Officers closed a portion of the street, but it has since reopened.
